“I just wanted to thank you so much for everything you taught us this week. I have never been taught that kind of stuff before and it was really helpful throughout my time here at camp and I am definitely going to keep using those tools beyond this week.”

"Your ability to connect with the girls is truly amazing."

USA Hockey National Development Training Camp Staff Member
"The content you have shared with the girls throughout this week has really stuck with them. We have overheard them talking about and implementing the mindset zones in every ice time and when one of their teammates was having a rough game, they reminded her to do her belly breathing and we could see it help her calm down and get refocused. You have been excellent this week."
About Danielle McDonough
M.A. SPORT & EXERCISE PSYCHOLOGY
Danielle is a former Division I and Professional athlete. She received her B.A. in Sociology from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island while on a full athletic scholarship for ice hockey. While at PC, she helped lead the team to four consecutive league championships, made their inaugural debut in the NCAA tournament, and captained the team for the 2004-2005 season. Upon graduating she moved up to Ontario, Canada where she played professionally in the NWHL for two years. After playing there she moved overseas to Lugano, Switzerland where she again played professionally in the European Hockey League for two years.
Returning home to Southern CA in the Spring of 2009, she obtained a Masters Degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology, and began her own business in the winter of 2010, coaching athletes on the mental side of performance. She has coached numerous athletes who have gone on to receive their own scholarships, helped teams unite and go on to win championships, as well as helped individuals regain control of their life through fitness/exercise routines and life coaching. Athletics, sport, and fitness are 10% physical and 90% mental and she firmly believes that once we are able to conquer the mental barriers we encounter, true greatness can be achieved - both in sport and in life.
In addition to the mental coaching, she also has 20+ years of experience coaching hockey on an individual level, in a team setting, as well as in a camp-like setting. Hockey is one of her greatest joys in life and it is a passion of hers to be able to coach others in the sport and help them to succeed both on a mental and physical level.
On a personal note, Danielle still plays hockey to this day, in a men's league. She met her husband playing, settled in Yorba Linda, CA, and they have two kids who they hope will love hockey as much as they do!
