A Quieter Place to Be

Jul 05, 2026

If you are reading this, you followed me here from somewhere else. Maybe social media. Maybe a friend. Maybe a search bar.

However you found it, thank you for being here.

I want to use this first post to set a quiet tone for what the next couple of months will be, because the way you read me is going to be different for a while.

For the months of July and August, I am stepping back from social media. No new posts on Instagram or LinkedIn. The reason is simple. The work I love most has always been coaching. The one-on-one conversations. The slow development of an athlete over weeks and months. The stuff that does not photograph well.

Somewhere along the way, the work around the work started to demand more of my attention than the work itself. I want to recalibrate.

Stepping away from social media is part of that. But I also want to be more present with my family this summer before the season ramps back up again. Some seasons of life are for building. This one is for being present.

So I am letting the noisy channels go quiet for two months and pouring myself back into the parts of the work that actually fill me up.

What you can expect from this space.

I will be writing one email and one blog post in the first and third weeks of each month through July and August. The blog and the Substack mirror each other word for word, so wherever you read me, you are getting the same writing.

The topics I am planning to cover include rest and why both kids and parents need it more than we admit. Identity, and how easily it fuses with performance when we are not paying attention. The off-season, and what athletes actually need from it. And what it looks like to support our kids in things other than their sport, because they need that too.

These are the topics that have lived under almost everything I have ever written, but rarely got to be the headline. I want to give them room here.

If you have been reading me for a while, this might feel familiar. The voice is the same. The work is the same. There is just a little more room for it to breathe.

If you are new here, welcome. I am glad you came.

I am still coaching this summer. If you are thinking about support for your athlete heading into next season, the contact page at ocppt.com is the place to start a conversation. We can talk about what your athlete is navigating and whether the work I do is the right fit.

I am also still writing, podcasting, and showing up for the parts of the work that have always been central to me. The pause is only from the loudest channels. The work itself continues.

Thank you for being here.

See you in two weeks!
